The building is completely new but made in a rustical style, the
owners Carvoeiro born Osvaldo and his wife Peggy Salvador
have 20 years of experience with their first restaurant in the
Village also called Rafaiol ( now low budget B-B-Q-restaurant).

They serve Portuguese and international cuisine in a friendly atmosphere , just a few examples Grilled tigerprawns, Skewered Salmon and prawns , Monkfish and prawn cataplana , Duckbreast with portsauce, Rack of lamm with yochurt mintsauce , Tender filletsteaks . And they didn´t forget the children fishfingers , Spaghetti bolognesa Chickennuggets.

The staff is friendly and professional and very willing to serve you the monkfish cataplana or remove your fish from the bone
In summer they have a very large terrace and in winter a real logfire
A wonderfull restaurant to enjoy your dinner.

The best place in the Rocha Brava area

A great place with a lovely fireplace and like always we are greeted by the staff as if we come every night. We never once had a poor meal there. They serve a wide range of dishes, surf and turf ( grilled filletsteak with grilled prawns) monkfish wrapped in bacon with grilled prawns ( my husbands loves that one), rack of lamb , duck breast and many more lovely dishes. Absolute the best

lovely place with a beautifull terrace, great rack of lamb

Went there several times last year august ,with the family and enjoyed the food and the ambiance. Despite it being very busy (being the high season)the service and the food was very enjoyable. Some people want to go in, eat and out, within the hour, but when you are on a holliday you should bring a little time along . We did, and enjoyed every minute of it. really love the place especially the terrace. This year we will be another 3 weeks in Carvoeiro and Rafaiol Alfanzina will see plenty of us.

Very disappointed

Went here last week to give it another try. Not very busy, but service was very slow indeed and the food quality was very poor. The Lamb was almost inedible & the Monkfish very rubbery. Great pity as decor is good, but we won't be going again until we can see evidence of improvement, despite its convenient location for RB

Pretty expensive but excellent

We have eaten at the other Rafaiol restaurant in town a few times and enjoyed it. We decided to make this our special night out as we had a feeling it may be a little more expensive. It was, but the food, service and setting was lovely so there were no complaints. Close to Rocha Brava so a good rival to Julio's (another restaurant that we like). It was very relaxed sitting on the terrace and despite the bill being a little higher than most - a very enjoyable evening. The service and food were excellent - with good variety....we will be back next July!
